FAQ's
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am located in the Lockyer Valley, QLD, Australia (Laidley area). Sessions within a 25km radius of my location are included in my pricing - extra fees of $20 per 10km apply for further locations.
What do we wear?!
I wrote a blog post! Have a look over in the 'Blog' tab.
Will your watermark be on any photos?
All of your high-resolution images are delivered to you without a watermark or branding for you to print and share as you wish. It is greatly appreciated if work shared online can be tagged or linked to me - my business thrives on word of mouth.
Can we order prints and other items?
Yes! Having physical copies of your images to display on your walls or give as gifts gives me the warm fuzzies! Through the gallery store you can order a variety of items. If you need help or guidance with any of these options just flick me an email.
Online gallery? Can we just have a USB?
The quickest and easiest way for me to deliver images is via online galleries (the way of the future! Ta DA!) linked straight to your email inbox. Step-by-step instructions will guide on on how to download. I can link multiple emails and you can share this link with family to register too! If you do not have a computer and would like your images posted to you on USB I can organise this for a $50 fee.
What is the best time of day for photos?
In-home newborn sessions are usually scheduled for 9:30am.
For outdoor portraits & maternity - always leading to sunset. When booking a session through my booking platform you will be shown the session time that directly relates to the best time. If you are booking an extended family session and are requesting my available dates - check the sunset time on that day and work approximately the 1 & 1/2 hour back from there.
For business branding this will very much depend on the style of images we want to achieve together. This is another reason why I always have a consult booked for business owners to chat through the options.
I am always more than happy to discuss other options and please just request my availability if you would like me to give you a call and chat the best options for your family/business.
When will we get our photos?
I do my best to get your images to you as soon as possible - I know how badly you want to see them! Please allow 4 weeks from the date of your session. I often share sneak peeks from my sessions on socials (or to my clients via text if you keep things private) so let me know if this is something you'd like!
Where should we have our portraits taken?
I always find it lovely to capture portraits at places that have meaning. If you have acreage, a beautiful home that you built with a special backyard or a family farm locally - let’s explore those options! Keep in mind that for portraits, the background is just that - the background. So paddocks full of dry grass can make a stunning backdrops as much as trees and gardens.
I have a large variety of options for those people who don't have a space as mentioned above and can send you the 'Location Options' gallery and password when you are in the booking process.
How do I pay for my session?
Payment for sessions is required upon booking via bank transfer. Please keep this in mind when you are securing a date with me.
How is it best to prepare children?
Please chat openly about your session with your little ones to prepare them. I was a teacher aid in my former profession and still love working with kids. Things like bubbles are great to bring to outdoor sessions! I have some little tricks up my sleeve as well to get them comfortable and engaged to be photographed. Please do not expect your children to be perfect angels for the session - I’m a photographer but also a mum and you don’t need to feel embarrassed if your children are a little bit out of sorts or uncooperative at times.
Children know when they have expectation placed upon them and tend to push back a bit when they are feeling uncomfortable. Particularly at outdoor sessions, we pace ourselves a bit. For example, i’ll take some photos of parents when children get a little restless and let them have a play in the background or off to the side to relax. Tell them I’m super friendly, I’ll talk to them about their favourite things and we will be great buds by the time the session is over i’m sure.
P.S. I’m a big Captain America/Marvel fan if this helps too!
What if the weather is bad on the day of an outdoor session?
Unfortunately as a natural light/mostly outdoor photographer this is a very real reality I face. Fortunately it isn't too often we need to reschedule. Unless the weather is predicted to be quite awful I usually don't postpone a session - sunset is amazing after rain and we often get rainbows! Depending on the circumstances we will generally make a call at least 3 hours before.
When do we book a newborn session?
As I only take on a certain amount of newborn bookings each month - it is best to book in before you reach 30 weeks of your pregnancy to make sure you are secure in a booking with me.
Will the rest of my family be included in newborn photos?
Yes! I always include parents and siblings in my sessions as well as photos of baby on their own.
